Two motorists charged with impaired driving

The Windsor Police Service has arrested two motorists for impaired driving in separate incidents.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on October 12, 2024, police were dispatched after a vehicle struck a pole in the 1600 block of Everts Avenue (24-124220). Officers arrived at the scene and located a red sedan with severe damage to its front end parked in the middle of the street. In speaking to the 21-year-old male motorist, officers detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, and other signs of impairment. Several empty or partially empty bottles of alcohol were scattered throughout the inside of the vehicle. The motorist was charged with impaired driving after failing a breath test.

Approximately four hours later, police attended the 1000 block of Edward Avenue where a suspected impaired driver had struck a parked vehicle (24-124309). Upon arrival, officers spoke to a 33-year-old man who had a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and was unsteady on his feet. The motorist was arrested for impaired driving and transported to police headquarters, where he failed a breath test.
