2024 Community Survey results now available

The Windsor Police Service is pleased to share the results of our 2024 Community Survey.

Comprising input from nearly 1,000 Windsor and Amherstburg residents, this report offers an overview of the community’s impressions of the Windsor Police Service. The report also highlights broader trends and challenges in policing and community safety.

A total of 90% of Windsor respondents and 89% of Amherstburg respondents reported a positive overall perception of the Windsor Police Service. Most respondents – 75% in Windsor and 94% in Amherstburg – also indicated that they generally felt safe in their cities.

Respondents in both municipalities named drug issues and homelessness/poverty as the two greatest challenges Windsor Police will face in the next three years. Other challenges highlighted by residents included crime, population growth, and mental health issues.

Windsor respondents indicated they would like police to focus more on guns and gangs (46%), traffic violations (42%), and repeat offenders (41%). Amherstburg respondents prioritized traffic enforcement (44%), repeat offenders (43%), and cyber crimes (43%).

“We thank everyone who took the time to respond to our survey and share constructive feedback,” said Chief Jason Bellaire. “This input helps ensure we understand our community’s needs and concerns so we can effectively deploy resources and deliver results.

The 2024 Community Survey was conducted by Forum Research Inc. Results were statistically weighted by age and gender to ensure that the sample reflects the target population according to 2021 Census data.
