Police investigate west-end shooting


The Windsor Police Service is investigating an early-morning shooting in the city’s west end.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on January 26, 2025, police received a report about gunshots in the 3800 block of Birch Street. Officers were dispatched to the area where they quickly located a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot following an altercation at a house party.

Members of the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit have taken carriage of the investigation and believe this was an isolated incident.

Residents in the area – particularly those in the vicinity of Birch Street and Prince Road – are urged to check their surveillance or dashcam footage between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.
