Security Camera Registry

Security Camera Registry

The Security Camera Registry gives the citizens of Windsor and Amherstburg the opportunity to let the Windsor Police Service know if they have installed exterior residential or commercial security cameras. These cameras may assist police in solving a crime that happens at or near this location.

Why register my cameras?

When the Windsor Police Service investigates a crime, officers may canvass the neighbourhoods around the incident for any available security footage that may have captured useful information. This process can require a lot of time and resources.

By registering your security cameras, officers can quickly determine who in the area may have Security Camera systems that may have captured useful footage and reach out to those citizens for assistance. This reduces the requirement for officers to go door-to-door during a canvass and this saved time could be crucial in helping to solve a case, make an arrest, recover property, or even save a life.

This registry does not grant police direct access to your camera system. Officers must still contact the owner/responsible party for the system in order to request to view or obtain the footage.

If you have a business or personal security camera system please take the time to register today.
